Our story..

Littlefrench opened in July 2019 as a fully independent, family-owned restaurant in the heart of Westbury Park, serving lunch and dinner daily, cooked by chef owner Freddy Bird and his team. A neighbourhood restaurant offering authenticity with the emphasis on quality. Littlefrench is Michelin listed as well as finalist in Observer Food Monthly Awards 2022. Since then we have opened another restaurant, and a bakery & café/deli. Utilising our teams vast experience in hospitality as well as hugely successful private dinners, lunches, weddings and other events, we launched Littlefrench Events specifically designed for all private catering needs, from corporate dinners, weddings and everything in between.

A bit about Freddy..

“For a chef, cooking is about generosity and excitement – a desire to share ingredients that most others can’t get hold of – I’ve never been one for trying to show off skills, I’d rather host the best party.”

Freddy was born and raised in Bristol. He trained at Ballymaloe before starting his career in London; first working at 2 Michelin star restaurant The Square with Philip Howard and then staying 4 years at Moro with Sam & Sam Clark.

He then returned to the West Country to launch a restaurant at Lido Bristol which opened in 2008 to critical acclaim, being named finalist in the 2016 Observer Food Monthly Awards. He then successfully launched Thames Lido restaurant in Reading in 2018.

In 2017, he then appeared with Michelle Roux Jr on the television show Hidden Restaurants, as a co-presenter. He featured on ch4’s Sunday brunch and the hairy bikers comfort food series. Freddy makes regular appearances on the BBC including, Saturday kitchen and just recently Remarkable places to eat with Michelle Roux Jr and Fred Sirieix.

  • Thank you and the team for a super evening last night. I don’t know if you heard any of the thanks during the speeches or caught any comments from guests, but I only heard praise for the food. That lamb was superb! Very grateful thanks
